Site Of The Month

On the first day of every even numbered month, I will choose one of the sites listed here that I think really shines. I will write up a little review stating what I think makes the site special. The review will be posted here for all to see. A small screen cap of the site will also be put in the sidebar all the next month. Finally, if the owner wishes it, I will make an award for him/her to put on the web site itself.

October/November 2008 -- Curly Top
Curly Top
Curly Top is a physical fanlisting for Pippin Took. This site is the perfect example of a small fanlisting that is very well designed. The layout is great, the navigation is clear, and all of the information is very easy to understand. Kristin has made a wonderful physical fanlisting.

August/September 2008 -- HaldirOfLorien.com
HaldirOfLorien.com
As the name suggests, HaldirOfLorien.com is dedicated to Haldir, the Marchwarden of Lothlórien. Haldir Cuiviénen has gathered as much information as possible on this somewhat mysterious Elf. There's also quite a bit of information about Craig Parker, the actor who portrayed Haldir in the movies. A gallery, sound clips, and more is also provided. The layout is pretty and the navigation is straightforward. Overall, it's an impressive fansite for a fairly minor character.

July 2008 -- Alcarinquë
Alcarinquë
Alcarinquë is a site dedicated to the women of Tolkien's world. Nearly every female mentioned in LOTR, The Silmarillion or Unfinished Tales is covered here. The site design is simple and elegant. The navigation is excellent, allowing people to look up a character based either on the book she appeared in or by name. Alcarinquë is one of the best and most unique LOTR sites online.

The next Site of the Month will be chosen on October 01.
